Day 213 – Birthday Presents

I couldn’t believe the number of presents you got for your birthday. Each one so thoughtfully bought. You must be so happy with them.

I think the one you would have loved the most would be the Batman Lego from Shalini. She very meekly asked me if your room had place to house the big box. And I said yes, on the condition that she builds it at some stage. So it is sitting on your bed for now. At some point, we will both build it.

The Pokemon plush toy I bought for you. I still smile when I remember how excited you were with the Pokemon plush toy you got for Christmas. Who would believe a 20 year old would get so excited about it. So I can imagine how happy you would be with this.

The “toad” plushie Jess bought for you. Mario Kart was one of the few games you both enjoyed. So this would be another favourite. It was painful to lay these on your bed on your birthday.

The 21st birthday card painfully and lovingly written by Patta and Ammamma. I could not bear to be in your room when they placed it on your bed.

The Harry Potter Lego bought by S Mami in Sydney and built by your little cousins J and A on your birthday. Little J very carefully placed it on your desk when it was completed. Before he left, he quietly opened your room door and placed the Lego manuals- “just in case you needed them”, he said. So, so precious and heart breaking.

The Pikmin pen holder stuffed toy from Mama. That would also have been something you would have been excited about.

The little Batman keychains from your friend L, carefully laid on your desk.

The Pokemon and Mario socks bought for you from Jess and me.

The ang paos from Aunty J and Aunty K. We will save them for your foundation.

The letters from A and little A. I know there were many tears when they were written. They sit nicely on your bed, untouched.

The beautiful orchid plants (purple and yellow) from your good friend M, also sitting perfectly on your desk.

The flowers from your friend G, in shades of yellow, pink, purple and orange, also very sadly placed on your bed.

The birthday card from Jess. Also painfully written, and now sitting on your bed.

Stunning purple tulips from H Mama.

The little pin from Aunty B that says “A good book is always too short”.

A lovely bouquet of flowers in different shades of purple from Aunty V.

And of course the 21 balloons with some of the most beautiful messages.

Even 2 days after your birthday, your cousin A wanted to buy you a Rowlet from the Pokemon shop. But I stopped him. There are already 2 Rowlets sitting on your desk and another big one on your bed.

Could a boy be loved more than this? I very much doubt it.

I hope you are enjoying all the presents Josh. They all sit in your room, untouched. I hope you visit often to look at them. I can see you beaming with happiness and pride.

Love you darling,

Mum
