Ammamma’s garden has been transformed. Probably the first project she started weeks after you died. It is truly a tribute to you.
One side just in front of the house is full of vibrant shades of purple and yellow flowers. There are so many different pale yellow and lavender hibiscus. As well as yellow and purple roses and many other filler flowers. Remember you always wanted a garden to be somewhat “unruly”? Well, this is like that.
On the perpendicular side are flowers of various colours, again several types of roses, hibiscus and flowers I don’t know the names of. They all catch the attention of anyone walking in.
Both sides of the garden are lined with large pebbles of various sizes. And of course the solar lights you bought for Ammamma.
From the mango tree, is a plant hanging with purple flowers.
So many of these beautiful plants bought from the most loving friends….Aunty E, H Mama. It also gives us some purpose on Sunday mornings, to go to the flower markets and the garden centres, buying flowers for you and looking for special plants for the garden.
Perhaps the most important thing is…the flowers are actually surviving….something that was rarely happening before. All the efforts of Ammamma and Tun….and perhaps you….also watching over this precious patch of purples, yellows and all the colours of the rainbow.
And the biggest tribute to you…..a hedgehog garden ornament….a Mummy hedgehog with her little ones.
A few mornings ago, there was the tiniest little butterfly fluttering around the garden, happily moving from one flower to the next. And of course, it was the most beautiful shade of lavender.
We are all trying my darling, in all the ways we can possibly think of, to still keep you happy in any way we can, and to keep you alive in any way we can.
It is truly a tribute to you. I hope you love it!
Love you darling,
Mum
