Dear Josh,
We got you a new present. Actually, this was the only gift we bought in Copenhagen. Nothing else really caught our fancy.
Jess sent me a TikTok on a customisable Lego miniature figure. It was only available at 2 stores, one of which was at Tivoli Gardens. So we made the journey, first to Tivoli Gardens. You would have loved that. It is an amusement park in the middle of the city. And this one was still covered in small blankets of snow, and was also littered with tiny shops very similar to the Christmas markets we saw in Dortmund. We strolled through the park, but did not go on any rides. We reminisced our last trip together, mainly to the theme parks in Tokyo and Osaka, and pointed to the big roller coasters within Tivoli Gardens- the sure rides for you had you physically been there. I’d like to think you were walking through the gardens with us, and perhaps even sneaking off occasionally to go on some of these rides.
After the gardens, we made our way to the Lego store. It was an interesting experience. We put in your name, and then had to select your attire. The varsity jacket stood out immediately. Jess tried to colour in the jacket in a deep purple. But it wasn’t working out too well. So we left it in white and blue. We then put in the little patches on the jacket. I was reminded of your cream and burgundy varsity jacket with the multiple patches that kept coming off. Ammamma had to stitch them back for you several times. Well, for the Lego man, we selected a gaming controller and a graduation cap. The gaming controller was a regular thing for you. In fact, in my last conversation with you, you had said you were playing games. And the graduation cap for what should have been, but never happened. You would have easily been the valedictorian in your year. For the back of the jacket, we put your name and 2 purple musical notes.
And then the printing started. It was very fun to watch. You would have loved it. Once the printing was over, we got to select some additional bits. Blue jeans for the legs, a little dog bone in one hand, and a guitar in the other hand. The hair was something that took awhile. I was going for the very traditional black curly hair. Jess wanted a beanie. Several minutes later, a red cap with headphones caught Jess’s attention. And that was the final decision.
I think you would totally approve of the final product. It sits nicely on your desk. Though I have to say, we probably need to reorganise your room soon. It is overflowing with presents.
Come play with it ok?
Love Mum
