Day 433 – Notifications

Dear Josh,

As you and Jess are aware, I don’t have sound notifications for my WhatsApp, so I don’t get disturbed with the infinite number of messages that come through especially during work. But I do have sound notifications for my normal/ iMessages. And this is how you and Jess know to reach me urgently if I hadn’t seen your WhatsApp texts. They would frequently come from you. A few unanswered WhatsApp texts and then an iMessage, “Hello?”, or “Can you answer?”.

A few nights ago, I was woken up at midnight by 2 texts from our telco company, and I was thinking to myself, I may just stop my sound notifications for these messages too. If Jess needs to reach me, she can call. Same with Ammamma and Patta. The midnight interruption also made it hard to fall asleep again. I was thinking about you and also wondering why we were not seeing the iMessages from us on your phone anymore. I religiously check your phone twice a day, but there had been nothing since I was in Copenhagen more than 3 months ago. It felt like another reason to stop my sound notifications, though there really isn’t any correlation.

The next morning, I was late leaving the house for work. But as I came out of my room, I as usual decided to quickly dart into your room to have a quick glance at your phone. I glanced at it and moved away. And then thought I saw something and went back. And there it was. An iMessage from Jess. I managed to take a quick picture of it. As before, when I finally opened to the iMessage page, there was nothing.

Tun had asked me a few days ago if you may send a message since it’s Jess’s birthday this week. I had said it doesn’t usually happen that way. Shalini, Jess and I all felt a little worse this week. I was secretly afraid I wasn’t getting many signs anymore, and I was telling Shalini perhaps you went to visit Universal Studios.

So this absolutely made my day, week, possibly month. And it is so timely with this being Jess’s birthday week.

Thank you darling!

Love Mum
