i missed you guys terribly in class today. it would’ve been so much fun debating if empiricism or rationalism made more sense, if there is such thing as moral obligations or “the greater good”. would you have pushed the fat guy to save the rest, or would you have thought of a brilliant alternative so that everyone could be safe?
the silence was resounding in class today. i had so much to bounce off you guys, yet there’s nothing where i looked. sha and i talked about you guys being a “bundle deal” – of course you are. even as you were getting together, there was never even an ounce of doubt that you were just recollecting what you already knew – that you were meant for each other.
“recollecting” – Plato believed in reincarnations, and that the soul is immortal and has acquired knowledge in previous existences. while he’s not saying that we retain memories from past lives, but the soul carries over a latent, often unconscious knowledge which can be “reawakened” through philosophical inquiry and education. learning is essentially the process of remembering the truths the soul encountered in the world of forms prior to birth.
maybe that’s why everything felt right for the two of you – maybe encountering each other is simply relearning the latent knowledge you retained that you are two parts of a whole. sha asked me if i thought that there were “right people, but at the wrong time”. i dont think so, we are after all the sum of our time and experiences. and the next time we meet, you’ll be you and more with the sum of all of us.
always the third wheel,
“Lynnda”
