Day 266 – Voice Notes Part Two

As mentioned in part one of my voice notes post, there are another 100 voice notes Josh has sent me personally. The past two posts were beautifully sad, and I thought listening to some of these voice notes might cheer us all up – well, hopefully. Not that anything will cheer us up, will it?

Here are a couple of voice notes (with contexts!) that I thought Josh wouldn’t mind me sharing. Anyway, even if he does mind it, I would share them anyway – they are just too cute or too funny. Besides, he never hesitated to “embarrass” me too! Once in class, we were tasked to research a topic collaboratively and present our findings. He was always the one presenting our ideas because he enjoyed it and I preferred being the quiet contributor – another reason why we’re a great team. After he had finished presenting our findings, he pointed to me and said, “Now Shalini will share a joke she’s been waiting to share with everyone!” He had this mischievous, boyish grin on his face. I looked at him and honestly couldn’t even be mad. I’ll give it to him, it was so funny – I would do it to him too. I turned to him in shock and saw him covering his mouth to hide his laughter. Everyone stared at me and started to realize that Josh set this up. Thinking on my feet, I pointed to him and said, “joke” – as in, he was my joke – and he burst out laughing, saying it was a clever save. Thankfully, our lecturer found this hilarious too and thanked us for the laugh before moving on. Josh and I continued sniggering for at least ten minutes after and I told him to never do that again because I’ll think of something else to save myself or figure out a way to turn it on him. And guess what? He said that the next time his extended relatives come over and I meet them for the first time, he’s going to gather everyone and tell them I’ll sing a song for them out of appreciation and excitement. I think you can all imagine the fear and shock on my face. So, I think it’s quite alright that I “embarrass” him now. Anyway, I’ll hear about it the next time I see him.

He was supposed to call me after I came home from an outing with my friends, but he dozed off and felt so bad. When he woke up, he realized that he had fallen asleep and missed my calls, and sent me a bunch of voice notes instead (because I had already gone to sleep). I didn’t mind at all that he had fallen asleep, of course. I was actually more worried that he would be tired from waiting for me to get home. This is one of the voice notes he sent, and he also had an allergy attack.
This is what he sent me after I gave him instructions on how to record a voice note. I had said that we should send voice notes to each other because it’s nice to hear his voice. I told him to hold the button, talk, then release – and this voice note was the product.
I said I wanted to customize my notifications and told him to record a notification sound for me. Before this, he sent me a serious one where he lowered his voice and said, “Hi babe”. This is the funny version!
We debated about Taylor Swift a lot. This was one of his points explaining why he does not like her music. The song he is talking about in this voice note is titled “Peter”, inspired by Wendy waiting on Peter Pan. “Champagne Problems” is one of the songs he’d play for me on the piano.
This is his response when I said we should use voice notes more! But Josh… voice notes are permanent too?
I was walking to his place and there were so many pigeons flying around and landing near me! I was complaining about them and this was one of his responses. I love the “oh, oh” he says in the middle of the voice note when he suddenly got the idea.
This was after I told him that he did not need to walk me home every day. I was worried that he’d be tired from walking because he has to walk twice the distance (once to my place, and once back to his), and that he’d be bored walking back alone.
When I said I wanted to hear his voice more! And to send me more voice notes! The ending of this note is so cute!
This is quite funny. After he said that his mum told him he mumbles a lot, he kept asking if he really does mumble and if he talks too fast. He was hyperfixated on enunciating for a while after.
Remember how I wrote about Josh and I running to each other whenever we see each other from a distance? This is a voice note of him running to me. There’s also a voice note of me running to him – likely recorded on the same day.
Just nice to hear. This series of voice notes were so funny. I can’t exactly explain the “yeah” at the end because I think it’s an inside joke.
I can’t remember this but I think it’s another inside joke. His laughter is also nice to listen to.

I hope this post was still enjoyable, even for the readers who aren’t related to Josh and I. It’s nice to reminisce and these voice notes really take me back to when they were being recorded. Back then, I’d listen to his responses while walking to his place, so it’s really nice to hear them back and imagine myself walking to his place to see him now. If I imagine hard enough, it’s almost like nothing changed. I’m glad we have all of these voice notes. Similarly, these voice notes have been extracted and put in another private podcast that I’ve shared with his mum and sister.

To Josh: Can you believe that I’ve just put our personal voice notes, even the ones to Lynn, out there for all to listen to? Sometimes I think I might have erased the fine line between what I should be sharing and what I shouldn’t. I guess memories are memories, right? And I’m sure your family would love to hear about anything and everything related to you. Hope I won’t get into too much trouble with you for sharing these! I can’t wait to see you again. I love you more, always, and forever.

Love always,
Sha
