I Swear You Will Be Fine

My darling Josh,

You continue to amaze me, though you are so, so far away. The signs you send us are just beyond amazing. It’s like what Lynn and Shalini once said- even now, after life, you continue to excel.

So I have a habit of charging your phone every few days. It sits on your desk, and I try to ensure the battery doesn’t die out. It helps when we look at “Find My Phone” that Bubbles is “at home”, where you spent most of your life.

A few weeks ago, when I went to look at your phone, there was a notification. It said there was an iMessage from my number. But I had not messaged you. I clicked on the notification and it disappeared. And there was no message in your messages.

I was a bit excited that you were giving me a sign. But I didn’t capture it. Since then, I kept checking your phone daily for another notification. But there was nothing.

And then last Friday, I went to charge your phone again, and there were multiple notifications.

The first was an iMessage from Shalini at 2.10am. Then another iMessage from Ammamma at 4.19am. Then an iMessage from Jess’s email at 8.09am. Another iMessage from my email at 09.57am. Another iMessage from my phone number at 09.57am and the last iMessage from Patta’s number at 09.59am.

And none of us had actually messaged you.

I was beyond shocked. And ecstatic. I quickly took a picture of your phone to prove to everyone else.

It was the perfect timing. We all had a difficult week, and perhaps you knew this. And so you reached out to all of us. I never believed in any of this. But now I do. And it helps us so much to know you are out there somewhere.
