Day 577 – Birthday Celebrations (Part 3)

Dear Josh,

Last one, I promise.

The last part of your birthday was at home, just the way you would have wanted it to be. Your closest friends came, which was so nice, alone with Jess’s and my closest friends. So many brought flowers. The house was filled with different shades of purple and yellow. So many left cards and letters in your room.

Dinner was exactly what you would have wanted. Pizza, cheese rolls and mac & cheese! Although we now realise your friends have a much wider palate than you!

We did this lovely thing that Shalini proposed and wrote about. Writing notes and putting them on a cake. And saying it out loud what you had missed. It was a crying fest as expected. One of the most important things said was from Aunty B. She said you actually hadn’t missed anything at all because you are watching everything from above. That was lovely to hear and something we will always keep in mind.

Like last year, we released balloons, but it had to be later in the night- long story. I hope you liked the shade of balloons- lilac and pale yellow. When we released the balloons, they first appeared as if they were all moving in a particular direction and then almost looked like they were going to come back down to land. I guess you were trying to be a little cheeky. Eventually, they all went high up into the sky.

And so, another birthday has passed. We are blessed to STILL be surrounded by so many loved ones who love you and us, and still know how important this day is to us. Thank you for keeping them in our lives. And as Shalini said, it was nice to have a full day about you.

Love Mum
