Dear Josh,
The last few days have been harder on all of us. As usual, it’s probably because we are at the end of the month again. I intentionally had one of the busiest weekends, but as they always say, you cannot run away from grief. I also keep telling myself that trying to run away from these feelings would also mean trying to run away from our immense love for you.
You will be happy to know that our first “grief support bags” have been prepared and given out. They will be given to young children who have lost a sibling. The bag is mainly filled with recommended children’s books on grief. We are still thinking of how we can better this. Shalini and I contemplated putting in a stuffed toy as well. Perhaps a little hedgehog or an elephant? I’m hoping you will give us a sign on what else you would like for us to put in.
No matter how tough things were for you, when it came to children, you would always put up a smile and try your very best to entertain them. We have many, many fond memories of how much you love to play with kids. The duration though, often varied depending on how you felt. Your little cousins always flocked to you. Seeing you always brought out the biggest smiles on their faces too. You would be on the floor with them, letting them climb over you, punching you, doing whatever they wanted. I was sometimes not so happy when there was an unreasonable amount of “physical assaults”. But you never complained, and in fact encouraged it. One of the last of these events was you on the floor playing cars with your little cousins.
So I guess it is only right that the first work of your foundation goes to little kids. I think you would approve. We tried to perfect this with the colour of the bags, and the logos. It took longer than we thought. So I hope you are happy with this.
Love Mum
