Dear Josh,
My workload lately has been swallowing me whole. I’ve been neck-deep in assignments and I thought I could finally dive back into a book this week because my major deadlines were last week, but our professors have added new deadlines so I have more hurdles to get through. It looks like I can only float after my thesis is completed. I’m currently frantically treading water.
In the midst of everything, I decided to take a tiny break and watched the new Spiderman movie with our friends. I was so glad we did that. In 2024, you excitedly sent me the posters for this movie and 2025’s Superman movie and said it’s two birthday movies in a row. You were so excited to watch both movies, so of course I had to do it both with your loved ones. 2025’s Superman movie was watched with your family on your birthday. I didn’t hold it in well and sobbed at the end of the movie, making your mum sob with me. It was different this year. 2026’s Spiderman movie was enjoyable. I almost teared up at the beginning thinking about you, but I pushed those thoughts away and told myself to enjoy it for you (and technically, with you).
And I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was a great movie and I love Tom Holland and Zendaya. They got married recently! They look so in love in every clip I see of them online. It’s heartwarming because they remind me of us.
I think you would have liked this movie. You might have been critical of it but we would have agreed that it’s a nice movie. I especially appreciated that it ended on a relatively good note (sorry, spoilers!). It got me thinking though – if I was Peter and everyone forgot about my existence, would I immediately run to MJ to tell her the truth or would I leave her alone? This is a tough one and I would have loved to discuss this with you!
Here’s my opinion (even though you didn’t ask): Instinctively, I thought, “Of course I’d tell her immediately!” thinking about the sadness I’d feel from not telling her. But on second thought, I think I wouldn’t. The more I thought about it, the more I decided I would leave her alone because I have no right to tell her something so big and possibly ruin her life just to alleviate my own misery. It felt selfish to want to say the truth and possibly for nothing but pain on both sides. It’s sad, but at least I’m the only one who’s sad.
I don’t know, what do you think? I somehow feel like you’d agree with me. Or you might not, and we’d have a heated and fun discussion. I miss you loads. Hope you enjoyed the movie as much as I did.
Can’t wait to see you again. I’ll love you forever and I’ll like you for always – more than you can ever imagine.
Love always,
Sha
