Dear Josh,
I had a presentation today that went well, but what came after was not great. It turns out the graduation that I am supposed to have on the 24th October – the same one that made me cut my London trip short and pay extra to change my flight – might not be happening. There was some miscommunication between the professors and the graduation department and I only found this out today because a classmate of ours brought up how annoying it was that we wouldn’t graduate this year. I was honestly so irritated because one side (the graduation department) was saying that we will graduate in October and the other side (our professors) was insisting that we can only graduate in March 2027. We still don’t know when graduation will be. You would have been so pissed. I was, but I couldn’t channel that anger into an angrier email so our L did it for us. Thank goodness she was able to help (and write it so angrily and professionally too)!
That’s not the main point of today’s letter though. Today’s writing was supposed to be lighthearted. There’s this new local drama on TV about three prison guards. The only girl of the three is named Charlize, and people refer to her as Char (pronounced Sha). She has a boyfriend – actually, fiancé – and he reminds me so much of you. I saw the resemblance immediately from the first scene that he’s introduced. He is likely the same ethnicity, has the same curly hair, dimples, smiley manner, and in his first appearance on screen, he bought Char a bouquet of flowers. He seriously reminded me so much of you that I was hoping he’d appear on screen more. The best part of this was, everyone calls him Josh! I’m not sure if his proper name is Joshua, but the two of them are literally Josh and Char (Sha). It’s such a trivial and silly thing, but it made me so happy. I’m actually only watching this drama because of this. If this is a sign from you, honestly brilliant! Super cute and creative. 10/10!
The nice thing is, right after his appearance and revelation of his name, my dad turned to me and said, “He is also called Josh, huh!” I merely smiled and nodded, but that comment made me happier because it meant that my dad also thought that there were physical similarities on top of y’all sharing the same name.
Silly things, but it helps sometimes. Hope you’re having a great time up there. I miss you lots. I can’t wait to see you again. I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, and I’ll miss you more than you can imagine.
Love always,
Sha
